This whipped feta dip was a new recipe for me this month when I was hosting a dinner for friends. I wanted to serve a spread of dips as part of the mezze meal and thought I would try this alongside the hummus. It went down very well with everyone - and I was so amazed how easy it was to make!
This dip pairs well with fresh vegetables, pita bread, or crackers. For extra flavor, you can blend in a small amount of roasted red peppers or sun-dried tomatoes.
You can store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.
Whipped Feta Dip
Recipe details
Ingredients
- 8 ounces feta cheese, crumbled
- 1 cup plain Greek yogurt (full-fat or 2%)
- 1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice (about half a lemon)
- 1-2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tablespoon honey (optional, for a touch of sweetness)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Fresh herbs for garnish (such as dill, parsley, or mint)
- Extra-virgin olive oil for drizzling
- Optional: crushed red pepper flakes for a bit of heat
Instructions
- In a food processor, combine the crumbled feta cheese. Pulse a few times to break it down.
- Add the Greek yogurt, extra-virgin olive oil, lemon juice, and minced garlic to the food processor. Blend until the mixture is smooth and creamy, scraping down the sides as necessary.
- If using, add the honey to the mixture and blend again. Season with salt and black pepper to taste, and blend briefly to combine.
- If the dip is too thick, you can add a little more olive oil or a splash of water to reach your desired consistency. Blend until well incorporated.
- Transfer the dip to a serving bowl. Drizzle with extra-virgin olive oil and garnish with fresh herbs and crushed red pepper flakes, if desired.
