Ingredients

This hot dip comes together with a few simple ingredients that deliver big flavor.

Jalapeno Cream Cheese Dip Ingredients

See the recipe card below for the exact quantities of each ingredient.

  • Cream Cheese: Full-fat cream cheese is best for a rich, creamy base.
  • Bacon: Adds smoky, salty flavor that takes the dip.
  • Sour Cream: Balances the richness with a little tang.
  • Fresh Jalapeños: Seeded and minced for fresh, light spicy flavor.

You will need on at least a 3-quart Crockpot and measuring cups to whip up this recipe.

Variations

  • Pepper Jack Cheese: Swap cheddar for pepper jack for extra heat.
  • Dry Ranch Dressing Mix: Stir in a packet for added seasoning and tang.
  • Greek Yogurt: Use in place of sour cream for a lighter dip.
  • No-Bacon Version: Skip the bacon for a vegetarian option with the same texture.

How to Make Jalapeno Cream Cheese Dip

This jalapeño dip is one of the easiest appetizer recipes you’ll make.

Jalapeno Cream Cheese Dip Ingredients in a Slow Cooker Before Cooking

Add half the cream cheese and cheddar cheese to the base of the slow cooker, then add bacon, sour cream and jalapeños.

Top with the remaining cheeses, cover and cook on low setting for 3 hours. Give it a stir halfway through if you can to ensure everything blends smoothly.

Serve warm with your favorite chips or veggies.

Hint: If you have time, let your cream cheese come to room temperature. Softened cream cheese will blend in faster but is not necessary.

Storage Instructions

  • Refrigerator: Store in an airtight container for 5-7 days.
  • Freezer: I freeze this dip all the time. Wrap it in plastic wrap and tin foil in an oven safe dish. It keeps well for about 3 months. Thaw at room temperature and bake without plastic wrap (keep the foil on) for about 35 minutes at 350F in the oven, or until bubbling.

Recipe FAQs

Can I make this dip ahead of time?

Yes, assemble the layers in your slow cooker insert, refrigerate and cook when you're ready to serve.

What cheese works best in this dip?

Sharp cheddar is the classic choice, but pepper jack, mozzarella and a sprinkle of freshly grated parmesan are all great options.

Is this dip very spicy?

It definitely has some heat from the fresh jalapeños, but you can adjust the spice level by adding more or less peppers. The heat level lies in the seeds, so you can include more or leave more out.
