Blondies are chewy and sweet bars that are like brownies without the chocolate.
The main difference between brownies and blondie bars lies in their ingredients. While both are considered “bar cookies,” brownies typically contain cocoa powder, making them chocolatey and rich in flavor. On the other hand, blondies don’t use cocoa powder at all – instead they rely on light ingredients like vanilla or butterscotch to provide an irresistibly sweet taste.
A good brownie usually have a dense chewy texture that melts in your mouth. On the contrary, buttery blondies are typically less dense and more cake-like with a soft crumb that literally just melts away!
- 1 1⁄2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
- 12 tablespoons salted butter, melted
- 1 1⁄2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup pastel easter m&m’s
- 1/2 cup small sprinkles
INSTRUCTIONS:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Grease a 13×9 baking dish with cooking spray or line it with parchment paper.
Mix the dry ingredients – flour, baking powder, and salt together in a large bowl. Set aside.
Add the butter, sugar, and brown sugar to a separate large mixing bowl and beat with a hand mixer or stand mixer.
Mix in the vanilla and eggs. Then gradually mix the wet ingredients into the flour mixture.
Mix in the m&m candies and sprinkles with a wooden spoon.
Dollop the blondie batter into the prepared pan and spread it to the edges of the pan. Add about a handful of additional M&Ms and sprinkles to the top of the blondies.
Put in the oven for a baking time of 25-30 minutes in the oven, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean and the chewy blondies are golden brown on top.
Allow the blondies to cool for at least 30 minutes before cutting them into 12 equal squares with a sharp knife.
Let your blondies cool completely in the baking pan before removing them and storing them. This helps to prevent condensation from forming inside the storage container. Place the blondies in an airtight container, such as a plastic container with a tight-fitting lid or a resealable plastic bag for up to a week.
Happy baking!
