Single Serving Easy Apple Crisp
Lately, this single serving easy apple crisp is my favorite way to satisfy a craving for something sweet. Whether or not you keep a pantry stocked with baking supplies, I can guarantee you have the ingredients required for this one. All you need is apples and a little butter, sugar, cinnamon, flour, and lemon juice. Not only is the ingredient list simple, but the recipe can easily be made allergy friendly with just a few tweaks (see recipe notes at the end).
I love the flavors of this sweet treat and you will too. Plus, it leaves your kitchen with a delicious scent that even the best candles can’t replicate! One whiff or bite of the warm, sugary, buttery oatmeal crumble and soft apples and I promise, you’ll be thanking me.
I typically just cook for myself, and whip this up when I’m craving something sweet after dinner but don’t have a lot to work with. However, this would also make for a great dinner party dessert! Not only do the ramekins help with ensuring you have enough portions, but they make for a a great presentation too.

- 1/2 tsp lemon juice
- 2 tsp sugar
- 1 tbsp butter
Apple Crisp Topping
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/4 cup flour
- 3 tbsp butter
- 1/8 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp baking powder
Instructions
Apple Crisp Filling
- Thinly slice apples and add to mixing bowl.
- Melt butter in a mug or small microwave safe bowl. Mix in remaining filling ingredients (cinnamon, lemon juice, and sugar).

- Preheat oven to 350°.
Apple Crisp Topping
- Combine all topping ingredients except butter in a mixing bowl.
- Dice butter into small cubes. Then, add half to the mixing bowl.
- Using your hands, fold dry ingredients into butter. Repeat with remaining butter.
- Continue to rub dry mixture into butter until crumbles form. Don't worry – they will form, they just take a while!
To Finish
- Evenly distribute topping amongst ramekins, pressing down to ensure apples are fully coated.
- Bake for 35 minutes at 350°
- Remove from oven, top with a small scoop of vanilla ice cream, and enjoy!
Tips
- To keep my apple crisp gluten-free, I use: Trader Joe’s Gluten Free Rolled Oats and Tapioca Flour, but gluten-free all purpose works too!
- To keep it vegan/dairy-free, I recommend: Trader Joe’s Vanilla Non-Dairy Dessert (SO yummy!), and Miyoko’s European Style Vegan Butter also available at Trader Joe’s and most grocery stores.

Delicious! I am definitely going to try this!
I don’t have ramekins. How can I adjust this recipe for an 8x8 glass dish.
