- Water
- Chai teabags
- Granulated sugar
In a small saucepan, bring the water to a boil over high heat. Add the tea bags, then turn off the heat. Let the tea steep for 6 minutes. Remove the tea bags from the pan. Stir in your sugar until it dissolves.
Use the tea in your favorite hot lattes, or store it in an airtight container in the fridge for iced chai tea lattes.
To serve, mix your concentrate in a 1:1 ratio. Meaning you want 1/2 cup of the concentrate to 1/2 cup of the milk of your choice. You can combine the concentrate and milk, pour it over ice for an iced chai latte, or you can heat the concentrate and mix it with the milk for a hot beverage. Whether I have it hot or cold, I enjoy it with pumpkin cream-filled muffins or banana bread.
The longer that the tea steeps, the stronger it will become. If you oversteep your tea, you can dilute it to the strength you prefer by adding a tablespoon of water at a time. Another option is to leave it strong and dilute it with more milk or ice cubes when you mix your beverage.
