Best Homemade Pizza Dough
Who doesn't love a good pizza?
In our family, it's one of the meals we enjoy regularly on the dinner rotation. With food prices constantly on the rise, I am always looking for cost-effective and filling foods to feed my family, while still keeping the ingredients simple and fairly plain.
By using this basic pizza dough as your base, the possibilities for toppings are endless, thus making it a perfect customizable meal for any palate.
Once the dough is made, this recipe is perfect to make together as a family, toddlers or even older kids have so much fun picking out toppings and decorating their own pizzas.

Activate the yeast by combining yeast, sugar and warm water in a mixing bowl. Once the yeast has a bubbly frothy layer, add in 4 1/2 cups flour, 1 tsp sat, 1/4 cup olive oil.
Using the dough hook attachment on the mixer, knead on medium low for 5 minutes, or until the dough has formed a nice ball. Remove the dough ball and place it in a lightly oiled bowl. Cover tightly with plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm area for 1 hour.
After 1 hour or when the dough has doubled in size, punch the dough down and remove it from the bowl. Cut the dough into 4 equal pieces.
Roll and stretch the dough out onto a well oiled pizza pan.
Spread on an even layer of your favourite pizza sauce. Depending on the type of pizza, you can also use BBQ sauce, Alfredo sauce or even pesto as your base.
Top with a layer of freshly grated mozzarella cheese.
Top with your favourite toppings. Today I decided to keep things simple and make my kids their favourite classic peperoni pizza.
This looks so good already! Bake the pizza in a preheated 425-degree oven for 20–25 minutes, or until the bottom of the crust is golden brown.
Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before slicing the pizza.
This pizza looks incredible and just as good, if not better, than delivery! The cheese is so bubbly and golden and the peperoni perfectly crispy.
Although the process from start to finish may seem lengthy, the bulk of it is waiting for the dough to rise. The actual effort involved is minimal and definitely worth it in the end.

- 1 3/4 cups warm water
- 1/4 cup olive oil + extra for pans
