10 Pies

These mini apple pies, or apple hand pies, are a fun dessert idea to serve at a holiday party or family gathering. Although they are overall pretty easy to make, they do take a little bit of patience so they are a great thing to bake on a snow day or a weekend. Whenever I make these, I like to serve them with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. These are a hit with the whole family, so you probably will not have leftovers! But if you do, store them in the refrigerator. If you want to reheat them before eating, I do not recommend microwaving because they may get soggy. The air fryer, toaster oven, or the oven will crisp them back up!

Ingredients
For the dough:
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 stick of butter, softened
- 1 cup of flour
For the filling:
- 1 cup peeled & chopped apples (about 2 apples)
- 1/2 tsp lemon juice

For the topping:
- 1 egg yolk

Instructions
For the dough:
- Mix together cream cheese and butter until fluffy.
- Add in the flour 1/2 cup at a time. It will be crumbly, but work it together with your hands and it will form a dough.
- Roll into a ball and flatten slightly.
- Wrap in plastic wrap and chill for at least and hour. Overnight works too.
- Once chilled, divide dough into 10 equal size balls.
- On a floured surface, roll each ball out into small circles.
For the filling:
- Mix together your chopped apples, lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon, brown sugar, and nutmeg.
- Add apple filling to the center of each pie.
For the topping:
- Brush the edges of the dough circles with egg wash, then fold over and seal with a fork.
- Brush tops with egg wash and add however much cinnamon sugar you’d like.
- Place on a greased baking sheet and bake at 400° for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown.
