Frozen Irish Coffee

While walking around New Orleans, the decision on where to go next can often lead to some pretty heated debate. One place, in particular, can always seem to unite even the most indecisive bar-goers. Erin Rose bar in the French Quarter is a little place right off of Bourbon Street. One not familiar with it could easily walk right by it, never having tasted the drink it made famous: The Frozen Irish Coffee.

One of, in my opinion, the best cocktails in the city. Most certainly a perfect choice for the first drink of the day on a hot summer morning. (On a side note, if you do stop by Erin Rose, don’t forget to get a poboy from Killer Poboys in the back. Some of the best in the city.) But back to the drink. It’s creamy, boozy, deliciousness is difficult to describe in mere words. So if you can’t get by to try the original, this recipe may get you through.

From my research, this recipe seems to be pretty close to the original. Although, I’m sure there is a secret ingredient or two that the owners are keeping pretty close to the chest. I can’t say as I blame them, because this drink is special. No two ways about it.

Just curious why this is called an Irish Coffee? Irish coffee is made with Irish whiskey & a sugar cube...hence the name. A coffee with brandy & coffee liquer is called a Coffee Keoke.

Hello Roxanne! Yes, we are familiar with the traditional Irish Coffee. I am not sure how that typo got there. Thank you for pointing it out so I can fix it.

Ahhh!! I LOVE that you LOVED your drink!! (And their awesome poboys!) I moved from NOLA 4 years ago almost. I now live 35 minutes East in Slidell, LA. Everytime I go to the city I do my best to stop in and get my favorite drink! You ABSOLUTELY cannot beat the price ($5) as well as getting to keep the cup!!!! Now you have made me want one!!!!
