These green beans are the star of the show every time. By adding some caramelized onions, fried garlic, and parmesan cheese, you can transform this veggie into a delicious dish that people will want more of. I find this side dish is best served with a roast or cut of meat and some potatoes.
My favorite part of this recipe is that no boiling is required. Boiling beans can cause them to become soggy and may require an ice bath after to keep their color. Pan frying is quick, easy, and gives the best texture every time.

Pan Fried Green Beans
Recipe details
Ingredients
- 2 cups green beans
- 1 tsp olive oil
- 2 small shallots, sliced
- 2 garlic cloves, sliced
- grated parmesan cheese to garnish
- salt & pepper to taste
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a pan
- While the pan heats, cut the tips of the green beans and slice the shallots & garlic
- Add the green beans to the pan, moving them around every few minutes
- After 5 or so minutes, add the shallots and garlic until the shallots are translucent and garlic crisps
- Season with salt and pepper
- Move to a plate then top with grated parmesan cheese
- Enjoy!
