Lovely family meal that can be served with salad and garlic bread

Get all your ingredients together and get ready to make a tasty family meal.

Preheat oven on 160°c. Put the mince in a pot and brown over a medium heat.

Once browned, you can drain the mince if you need to. Add some crushed garlic. I like to add 3-4 cloves

Add a sachet of lasagne seasoning and stir

Add one or 2 jars of bolognese sauce. You don't want it as saucy as bolognese as it needs to hold its shape

Add a roasted red pepper or chargrilled pepper paste/sauce as this gives the lasagne a really nice flavour.

Add a tbsp of tomato puree

Season with some pepper

And some salt.

Sprinkle with some sugar to take the bitterness of the tomato away. While the sauce simmers on a low heat, start the bechamel sauce.

Melt a large know of butter in a pan

Once melted sprinkle plain flour into the pan

Give it a good stir to make a paste

Add some milk a little at a time and stir continuously

It will turn into a thinner sauce

You want it to not he thick but not as thin as the milk consistency

Grate in some cheese and stir it through. I eyeball the cheese but not too much is needed. You don't have to add cheese but I prefer to.

The cheese will melt while you stir it. Once fully melted, remove from heat and sit aside

Layer some of your mince in the bottom of your dish. Just a thin layer. You need enough to do 3-4 layers.

Add your lasagne sheets but be sure not to overlap them. Break them as needed to fit.

Put another layer of the mince sauce and lasagne sheets again. Keep doing this till the mince sauce is finished and you have lasagne sheet on top.

Pour the bechamel sauce over the lasagne sheets

Spread the sauce so all of the lasagne sheets are covered.

Cover in Grated cheese

Place in the oven & bake until golden

Now enjoy with a salad and garlic bread.

Where is the ricotta cheese? Can't imagine making lasagna w/o ricotta. Also use mozzarella (sp?) We all have our differences and tastes. Our Italian feast night is looked forward to by our friends.

I'm in the UK, never heard of using ricotta in lasagne here. Do you use it in place of bechamel sauce?
