Burger Bowl Low Carb Style
I eat a lot of meals “bowl style” which really just means all the ingredients just get thrown in a bowl and mixed up, I find meal prepping a breeze when I chop and store a bunch of veggies and cook up a protein and have it in the fridge ready to grab, pour into a bowl, heat and mix!
this burger bowl is a perfect example of what I’m talking about, you can have all of your greens, diced or chopped and placed in Ziploc bags in the fridge, ready to go and even have the meat pre-cooked
I like to use 90% lean beef for a burger bowl, you can certainly use ground turkey or ground chicken, but I feel it tastes more authentic with ground beef
If you do meal prep and cut up your greens in advance, Romain lettuce holds up the best for up to four days without getting wilted or brown
Start by frying up the ground beef in a skillet until cooked through, a sprinkling of onion powder and salt and pepper is added, when fully cooked drain any fat and put aside
Now you can start layering your salad, on top of the lettuce base I add cherry tomatoes
Diced pickles
chopped red onion
And while I don’t add cheese, a sprinkling of sharp cheddar or American if you like a mild or taste is a good addition
Top with your ground beef
And add a favorite dressing, I like to simply add a buffalo sauce on top.
