Baileys Hot Chocolate
Warm up on a cold winters night by indulging in this rich, creamy, chocolatey, Baileys Hot Chocolate. Level up this deliciously festive beverage, and top with whipped cream and chocolate sauce.
We love making a batch of our Hot Chocolate Crock Pot Recipe almost weekly in the winter to use for festive cocktails. It is fun to play around and mix up the different types of toppings as well as alcohol used.
Exactly as it sounds, Baileys Hot Chocolate is a fresh mug of rich and smooth hot chocolate mixed with creamy Baileys Irish Cream. The rich, milky vanilla taste of Baileys with a hint of fruit pairs well with a chocolatey hot beverage.
This was inspired by my Hot Chocolate Crock Pot Recipe and is a great base to use for a Peppermint Mocha Recipe as well.
- Simple: This drink is so easy to make with just 2 ingredients.
- Tasty: A rich chocolatey drink with light hints of fruit and subtle of vanilla from the Irish cream.
- Great Texture: It is so smooth and silky, almost tantalizing on the tongue!
With just 2 simple ingredients you'll be ready to whip this up before you know it.
See the recipe card below for the exact quantities of each ingredient.
- Hot Chocolate: Find your favorite brand, or make out homemade Hot Chocolate Crock Pot Recipe to get start on this drink!
- Baileys Irish Cream: The smooth and creamy Irish Cream is the perfect blend.
For this recipe, you'll want to have on hand a measuring cup and shot glass, as well as a mug to serve it in.
With just two ingredients it feels impossible to change, but here are a couple fun ideas!
- Baileys Salted Caramel: Truthfully, this is the version I use for a richer flavor profile!
- Baileys S'mores: This would be sinfully delicious of a combo! And if you do not have this version available, just add a shot of espresso into your drink.
- Bailey Espresso: If you want a coffee flavor profile, give this version a try.
- Ice: Serve on ice or with chocolate milk for a cooler beverage if that is your preference.
- White Hot Chocolate: Make a fan favorite white hot chocolate and use that as your base.
- Vodka: Add a half shot of vodka to enhance the flavors.
- Peppermint Syrup: Add the fresh minty flavor. Can be substituted for peppermint extract if needed.
Just two simple steps. Check out how easy it is to make this beverage.
Add hot chocolate into a mug and pour in Baileys Irish Cream. Stir and enjoy.
Garnish with marshmallows or whipped cream and some cocoa powder.
Hint: If you want to keep your drink hotter for longer, before you make the drink add hot water to your mug for 2-3 minutes, then pour it out and add your ingredients.
Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Wing Dip
Whether you go simple or fancy, this is a drink to impress.
- Glass: It is best to use a glass, heat-safe mug, but any coffee cup will do.
- Garnishes: Marshmallows and chocolate sauce are the obvious ones here, but get creative. Use toasted marshmallows, caramel syrup, add a sprinkle of flaked sea salt, or try whipped cream with shaved chocolate.
- Sugar Cookies: A buttery sugar cookie taste is so delicious with this drink.
- Chocolate Desserts: We suggest trying fudgy brownies, Baileys brownies, or cake mix brownies, to name a few.
- Pecan Pie: The nutty flavors and textures are a nice balance for this drink. You'll love our Costco Pecan Pie Copycat recipe!
Though it isn't a requirement, try heating your Baileys on low just until warm before mixing. It makes this beverage that much creamier!
Do you have questions about making Baileys with Hot Chocolate?
While you do not have to heat up the Baileys first, it does change the consistency a little bit to make for a slightly creamier beverage if you do.
Absolutely not, it makes it easier if you use store-bought. One benefit to using homemade is that you can customize the flavor to your taste, but it is not essential.
Can I use any type of Baileys in my Hot Chocolate?Definitely. There are so many fun flavors of Baileys out there that you can play around with. My favorite is the Salted Caramel.
How do I prevent the Baileys from curdling in the Hot Chocolate? If you keep your Baileys in the fridge and it is very cold it might curdle in the Hot Chocolate. You can heat it up slightly or allow it to come to room temperature, before mixing to prevent that.
