How to make an easy apple pie bread with a cake mix. This is a semi homemade fall dessert that's easy to make. You can also make it as muffins.

This uses applesauce and a cake mix, so it's very simple to make. My kids liked making cake mix quick breads when they were learning to cook.

I used a spice cake mix, but you can use a yellow cake or white cake. I have directions for modifying by adding extra spices in my easy apple bread from cake mix recipe. I also have some tips and variations and how to make muffins with this recipe.

Instructions

Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
In a mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, diced apples and apple sauce.
Pour the apple batter into a nonstick bread pan. You can also line the bread pan with parchment paper if you’re worried the batter will stick.
Bake for 40-45 minutes or until you can poke a tooth pick into the center of the bread and it comes out dry. It can take awhile.

What size bread pan, please? And why did it fall flat instead of a nice rounded rise?

  Applesauce is heavy, wet, and dense and the cake mix doesn't have sufficient leavening agent to support the rise normally associated with a quick bread. Its just as delicious though!

  There are no eggs in recipe, the "bread isn't really a bread, so it doesn't look like normal bread But it sounds delicious, almost like a loaf apple cake. The bread pan in the picture looks like a normal size loaf pan. A simple recipe to just enjoy!

  If you live above 3500 feet above sea level, follow the instructions on the cake mix box for high elevation baking. It generally calls for the addition of 2 tbsp. of flour to the cake mix to correct this problem.
