In an attempt to cheer him up and make him smile and make his back feel better, I decided to do something that I almost never do.

His mother’s Snickerdoodle cookie recipe.
He was gone for the day and I wanted to surprise him, so I had the day planned out. I had my checklist. I had all my to-do’s lined up for the day and baking cookies were slotted from 4:00-5:00 pm. Somewhere around noon I decided to pull out the butter to let it soften and put the other ingredients on the counter to save time.

Recipe details
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 cup butter
- 2 eggs
- 2 3/4 cups flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 tsps Cream of Tartar
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 3 Tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
Instructions
- Cream sugar and butter.
- Add eggs, vanilla and dry ingredients (except the 3 Tbsps of sugar and the 1 tsp of cinnamon).
- Mix the 3 Tbsps of sugar with the 1 tsp of cinnamon in a separate bowl.
- Roll into 1 inch balls and cover with sugar/cinnamon mixture.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
