These black bean chocolate brownies offer a deliciously moist and fudgy texture with a surprising secret ingredient—black beans! They're perfect for those looking for a gluten-free dessert or simply a healthier alternative to traditional brownies. Despite the unusual ingredient, these brownies are full of rich chocolate flavor and sweetness, making them a satisfying treat for any occasion and for big and small (my kids love them). Easy to whip up in one blender and baked in just 25 minutes, they’re a great way to indulge in dessert while sneaking in some extra fiber and protein. Perfect for an (almost) guilt-free snack or dessert!
Black Bean Chocolate Brownies
Recipe details
Ingredients
- 1 ¼ cups cooked black beans (drained and rinsed)
- 2 large eggs
- ½ cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Blend the Beans: In a blender or food processor, add the cooked black beans and blend until smooth and creamy.
- Combine the Wet Ingredients: Add the eggs, sugar, and vegetable oil to the bean mixture and blend again until everything is well combined.
- Add the Dry Ingredients: Add the unsweetened cocoa powder, baking powder, and a pinch of salt. Blend once more to create a smooth, creamy batter.
- Bake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Line an 8x8 inch (20x20 cm) baking pan with parchment paper. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool and Serve: Remove the brownies from the oven and let them cool completely in the pan. Once cooled, lift them out using the parchment paper and cut them into squares.
- Optional Topping: Dust with powdered sugar before serving for an extra touch of sweetness.
